LIVE FIRE

Residential Fire Operations
Firefighters will perform various evolutions designed to develop skills on the fire ground at residential structure fires. Many skills will be taught and performed including: hose handling, forcible entry, laddering, VEIS, search and communications. There will be live fire with smoke and heat conditions in the burn building with seasoned instructors guiding you through
each evolution.

Commercial Fire Operations
Firefighters will perform various evolutions designed to develop skills on the fireground at commercial structure fires. Many skills will be taught and performed including: hose handling, forcible entry, laddering, VEIS, search and communications. There will be live fire with smoke and heat conditions in the burn building with seasoned instructors guiding you through
each evolution.

Apartment Fire Operations
Firefighters will perform various evolutions designed to develop skills on the fire ground at garden-style structure fires. Many skills will be taught and performed including: hose handling, forcible entry, laddering, VEIS, search and communications. There will be live fire with smoke and heat conditions in the burn building with seasoned instructors guiding you through each evolution.

VES/VEIS
Instructors will discuss the benefits and needs to implement VES/VEIS and how to properly conduct the operation, whether on a ground floor, from a ground ladder, or an aerial ladder. Students will learn the proper techniques from an experienced instructor, as well as several tricks of the trade.

LPG Fires
This class is multifaceted in that you will learn coordinated hose/nozzle commands as well as the safe handling of Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) emergencies. Under the direction of an experienced instructor, the student will learn to handle and control live flammable gas releases of an LPG tank and “Christmas Tree” prop.

Fire Behavior/Flashover
This isn’t just about flashover and the modern fire curve! This course is designed for the firefighter to increase their knowledge on what is actually happening around them in a fire building. The course will begin with a short classroom presentation followed by a rotation of live burns that demonstrate each and every aspect of the presentation under real fire conditions. Students will see first-hand changes on the fire ground including: fire growth, proper and improper ventilation, oxygen limited fires, roll over, flashover and more! Students will also
operate with a Thermal Imaging Camera and learn the proper use of the CAN!

TECHNICAL RESCUE

Confined Space Rescue
Sixty percent of would-be rescuers die when attempting to rescue a worker in a confined space. This program is designed for the technical rescue firefighter to enhance their knowledge
of confined space emergencies. Various techniques will be shown and performed by the student in our confined space simulator. This is a great opportunity to complete your annual refresher or
enhance your skills with experienced instructors.

Trench Rescue
Trench and excavation rescues are extremely dangerous emergencies that can happen anywhere and at any time. This program is designed for firefighters trained in technical rescue, work in a support roll or are interested in being on a technical rescue trench team. Students will discuss the hazards of these operations, utilize various equipment and remove a victim from a live trench.

High-Angle Rope Rescue
This course shows the new rescuer the tips and tricks for the basic high-angle rescue incident. Choosing the appropriate patient packaging and lowering system set-up will allow the rescue team to operate safely, more efficient and overall stronger. Propper set-up and rigging of the Stokes Basket in vertical and horizontal lowering, as well as the SPEC Pack will provide the kills for the majority of team-based rescues.

High-Lines/Tension-Diagonal w/Reeve Systems
Swift, rapid-rising and high-water incidents are all too common across the U.S. Of the many skills utilized in water rescue, reeve systems have a less common niche. Although many rescuers will never need the high-line in a live rescue, this class challenges the students and uses gravity to play the part of moving water. After this class, the experienced rescuer will understand
the construction/build, workings and applications of such systems.

Low-Angle Rope Rescue
This class will help the new rescuer better understand the rescue knots and systems, while providing the additional tools for frequently occurring incidents in many locations, such as rising water emergencies.

Structural Collapse
Success during the initial hours of a structural collapse are critical in the survivability rates of victims. In this class students will learn the proper techniques to size up the collapse and determine existing and potential hazards, protect against secondary collapses, choose and deploy the correct equipment and affect a successful rescue while maintaining the safety of the rescue team.

Pick-Offs & Window Washer Scaffolds (Swing Staging)
Technician-Level skills have limited use in most urban and suburban-based rescues, yet we require our rescue teams be fully-capable. This class covers some of these skills in a format more commonly used by most technical rescue teams. These skill stations will create individual challenges for the students.
